Deutscher Buchpreis 2005 to 2025, Nomination Demographics

In my analysis of the longlists of the Deutscher Buchpreis from 2005 to 2025, I found some interesting patterns.

Nominee Demographics

• A small group of authors have been nominated multiple times: One author has been nominated six times, another five times, and five authors have received four nominations. A broader group of 18 authors were nominated three times, and 58 authors were nominated twice. Total = 83 authors.
• Single nominations: 220 authors.
• Male authors are slightly over-represented: Approximately 60% of all the authors nominated from 2005-2025 are male.
• No difference was made regarding to winner or shortlist or longlist.
