Pulitzer Prize: Administered by Columbia University, this is one of the most prestigious American awards, with categories for fiction, poetry, drama, and history. It's often considered the highest honor for American authors.

National Book Award: Given by the National Book Foundation, this prize recognizes the best American literature in five categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, translated literature, and young people's literature. It's often referred to as a "writers' award given by other writers."

National Book Critics Circle Award: This prize honors the finest books in six categories: fiction, non-fiction, biography/autobiography, poetry, criticism, and debut fiction. The winners are chosen by a board of professional critics and editors.

PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction: This is the largest peer-juried prGottfried Keller Prize (Gottfried-Keller-Preis)ize for fiction in the United States, given to an outstanding work of fiction by an American author.

Hugo Award: Considered the most prestigious award in science fiction, it's given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year.

Edgar Awards: Named after Edgar Allan Poe, these awards recognize excellence in various categories of the mystery genre, from novels to non-fiction.

Miguel de Cervantes Prize: While administered by the Spanish Ministry of Culture, this prize is a major honor for Spanish-language literature and is awarded to authors from Spain and Latin America. It is considered the most prestigious award for Spanish-language writers.

Rómulo Gallegos Prize: This Venezuelan prize is one of the most important awards for Spanish-language novels.

Casa de las Américas Prize: A Cuban literary prize that recognizes works from all over Latin America in categories like novel, short story, poetry, and essay.

Américas Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature: This award, administered by the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs (CLASP), recognizes books that authentically portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinx people in the United States.

Nobel Prize in Literature: While not exclusively for European authors, this is the most prestigious and internationally recognized literary prize in the world. Administered by the Swedish Academy in Stockholm, it is awarded to an author from any country for their body of work. Many of its laureates have been European, making it a key prize in the European literary landscape.

The Booker Prize: This is a major literary prize awarded annually to a novel written in English and published in the UK or Ireland. It is one of the most famous literary awards, guaranteeing international renown and significant sales for the winning author.

International Booker Prize: A companion to The Booker Prize, this award is given annually to a single book of fiction translated into English and published in the UK or Ireland. The prize money is split equally between the author and the translator, recognizing the importance of translation in bringing international works to a wider audience.

European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL): This prize highlights new and emerging literary voices from across the European Union. It awards authors from different EU countries each year, with the goal of promoting the circulation of literature within Europe and encouraging translations.

Prix Goncourt: Often called the most prestigious literary prize in France, it is awarded annually for the "best and most imaginative prose work of the year" written in French. Winning this prize can lead to a huge boost in book sales.

German Book Prize: This award honors the best German-language novel of the year and is considered a key literary prize in the German-speaking world.

Strega Prize: One of Italy's most prominent literary awards, it is given annually to the best work of Italian fiction.

Cervantes Prize: As mentioned in the previous response, this prize is administered by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and is considered the most prestigious award for Spanish-language literature, honoring authors from both Spain and Latin America.

Swiss Grand Prix for Literature: This is the most prestigious literary honor in Switzerland, awarded annually to an author for their entire body of work and their significant contribution to Swiss literature. It is granted by the Federal Office of Culture.

Swiss Literature Awards: In addition to the Grand Prix, the Federal Office of Culture also gives out several awards each year to authors for specific works published in one of the national languages. This prize aims to promote Swiss literature and help authors gain recognition both domestically and abroad.

Swiss Book Prize (Schweizer Buchpreis): Modeled after the German Book Prize, this award is given to the best German-language novel of the year by an author of Swiss nationality or who lives in Switzerland.

Gottfried Keller Prize (Gottfried-Keller-Preis): One of the oldest literary awards in Switzerland, it has been given every two to three years since 1922 for a literary work that "promotes the spiritual heritage of Gottfried Keller."
